Dr Simone Peters has clinical and research interests in psychological processes associated with gastrointestinal disorders. She has multiple first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings. Simone is experienced in applying gut-directed hypnotherapy and has conducted extensive research into the efficacy of gut-directed hypnotherapy as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. Simone is a member of the Gastroenterology Department at Alfred Health and was the first gut-directed hypnotherapist to be employed in the public health care system in Australia. She now runs the Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy Program at the Alfred Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders Clinic. She is also the Director of the Mind + Gut Clinic a multidisciplinary clinic specialising in gastrointestinal disorders. Simone continues to be heavily involved in research with both Alfred Health and Monash University.
